Once the homeowner began removing the fake moss-rock boulders, the layout of the original art-tile fireplace face began to emerge. Unfortunately, the vintage tiles were too badly damaged to be saved. You can also see the arched firebox opening emerge - a beautiful detail that was incorporated into the renovation design.
